Clear Creek is paradise, and we are incredibly lucky to call this community home. But lately, I’ve watched our county government try to provide services as if we are a much bigger area than we actually are. This overreach has bloated our local budget, and it's the average, hardworking people who are paying the price. I'm running because I see our neighbors starting to feel like they can no longer afford to live in the place they love. We need to bring things back to basics, respect our actual size, and make sure Clear Creek remains an affordable, welcoming home for all of us.
When I look at our county budget, I see a clear challenge that we must face together. Right now, our budget is out of control, and there is no trick to figuring out how to fix it. It comes down to a simple reality: either taxes must go up, or spending must go down. The truth is, we simply cannot tax our way out of this situation. That is why I am committed to cutting spending. We need to rein in our budget so that our county can focus on doing its core job effectively. I believe we can get our finances back on track and keep our community strong.
Most of us moved out here for a simple reason: we wanted to live on our own small patch of earth and enjoy the mountain lifestyle. But along the way, in an effort to stop a few people from taking advantage of the system, the government started punishing everyone. The problem was never the majority of us, yet these strict laws are now hurting our good, lawful neighbors. I believe that it is your property, and you should be able to enjoy it. Whether you want to camp on your land or build a garden, you should have that right. If elected, I will fight to protect your property rights and ensure our local laws respect responsible landowners, rather than placing unnecessary burdens on our community.
